For the February Spotlight On Learning, a group of 1st grade staff and students from Marinette Primary School shared with the Board of Education how they are using a program, From Phonics To Reading, to help students become better readers at the young levels. Teachers, Mrs. Borths, Mrs. Cronick, Mrs. Koenigs, Ms. Lesandrini and Mrs. Walters, along with students Sebastian K., Aubrey F., Cicilia L., Ruby D. and Owen W. demonstrated how a technology based activity allows students to review a set of unique letters and letter blends to determine if together they create a word. The students demonstrated the phonics concepts as they sounded out words for the Board of Education and properly identified real words from non-words.
