June Spotlight On Learning
During June's Spotlight On Learning, School Counselor, Wendy Baron, along with students Anna M., Cole G., Maya B., Addelyn B., and Savannah S. shared an overview of the (SAIL) program, which stands for Students Anchored In Leadership. This is a new program at Marinette Middle School that is focused on providing opportunities for students to display leadership and respect through a series of events and tasks.

Staff recommend students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade to participate in the SAIL group if they demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills, and serve as positive role models in the building. The program is anchored in students showing investment, ownership and courage.

Examples of activities that the student group led and engaged in included door decorating contests, dodgeball tournaments, Red Ribbon Week activities, Candy Cane Gram where proceeds were donated to the Salvation Army, and even a laundry drive.
